Last Winter I bought some cheap $40 thigh-high pirate-ish boots from Target, took them apart and remade them into knee-high boots that actually fit me. I also added lace and some bows.

There is a full tutorial on how I did it over here on my blog: [link]

Aww, the poor boots. But they do look nice the way you re-made them. ^_^
You're a small girl, aren't you?
(I think I'd be too afraid of messing them up if it were me. I'd think the new seams might end up popping off or something, or I might cut the tops uneven, or some other thing. And I wouldn't do something like that with boots that cost so much. But I think they turned out really nice for you.)

Thank you :) Yes I am a small girl, it is very difficult to find boots that actually fit my calves in Australia so this was the only option at the time.

This is awesome. I may have to do this sometime. I almost resorted to making my own boots (as in, from scratch) as my only pair of black boots decided to fall apart after many years of use. Fortunately, after a few MONTHS of searching, I found a new, practically unused pair at Goodwill for $6. Maybe I'll go look for another pair just to play with, though!

Oooh that is such a good thrifting find! I'd definitely suggest trying on a pair you don't care about to play with first just so you can get a feel of the shapes but good luck either way!
